Man to Man
Lyrics by: Jamie O'Hara
Album: Gary Allan - Alright Guy

You're throwin' around a lot of serious accusations
Ain't too hard to tell what you're insinuatin'
You think I'm the one who stole her away
And if not for me she'd still be yours today
We're both men here so why play games
Why don't we call a spade a spade

Chorus:
Man to Man
Tell me the truth (tell me)
Were you ever there when she needed you
Man to man
Look me in the eye, tell me
If you really loved her
Why'd you make her cry
Man to man
Who cheated who
You're the one to blame
Tell me it ain't true
Man to man
Man to man

Well you think all your anger is justified
Me, I think it's just your wounded pride
What did you really think she was going to do
She's a real woman, not a doormat for you
You want her back, but it's too late
Why don't we just cut to the chase

Repeat Chorus twice

Notes:
I very rarely use the actual lyrics of a song in my stories. I find them hard to incorporate in without basically having the story near mimic the lyrics, but this story just seemed to write itself this way. What struck me most and made me want to write the story was the chorus. At the time I wrote it, Jason just seemed to be living in this happy little world with Courtney, mad at Elizabeth for walking out on him, and I never thought he looked at it from her viewpoint. She waited in the penthouse, worried sick, and he just shoved her aside figuring she'd be there waiting for his crumbs of affection when he got back. At the time, Ric hadn't gone through the whole let's make Carly think I raped her thing, so I wasn't upset with his character and I figured he would make a good truth teller to Jason about Elizabeth's frame of mind with the breakup. It's a story I like, but not one I feel I did my best work on - mostly because of my natural unease about putting lyrics in, and I like the sequel a whole lot better.
