When You Come Back to Me Again
Lyrics by: Jenny Yates and Garth Brooks
Albums: Garth Brooks - Scarecrow and Frequency Movie Sountrack

There's a ship out on the ocean at the mercy of the sea
It's been tossed about lost and broken wandering aimlessly
And God, somehow you know that ship is me

Because there's a lighthouse in a harbor shining faithfully
Pouring its light out across the water for this sinking soul to sea
That someone out there still believes in me

Chorus:
On a prayer in a song
I hear your voice and it keeps me hanging on
Raining down against the wind
I'm reaching out until we reach the circle's end
When you come back to me again

There's a moment we all come to
In our own time and our own space
Where all that we've done we can undo
If our heart's in the right place

Repeat Chorus

Again and again I see
My yesterdays in front of me
Unfolding like a mystery
You're changing all that is and used to be

Repeat Chorus

Notes:

When JewelTones put out her Put it to Lyrics challenge at The Canvas, I hadn't really planned on writing a sequel to Man to Man. But I have loved this song since I saw the movie Frequency and think they're some amazingly beautiful lyrics. So, I knew I was definitely using this song, and then tried to figure out what the story to it could be and came up with this. What I really wanted to bring out in this story was it wasn't just Jason saving Elizabeth or Elizabeth saving him; they both were lost, they both were searching for a light to lead them to shore, they both were the anchor for the other person. The lyrics I hope work well with the preceding passage, as well as setting up the transition to the next with a different point of view. This is one of the only stories I've written where I've used the lyrics and felt the story was better for them.
