Fire and Water inspired by...

The Fire
Lyrics by: Leslie Satcher
Album: Chely Wright - Single White Female

He's dating a lawyer witha gentle nature
Says she ain't nothin' like me
And there's fire and there's water
And all I can offer
Is a temperment that he don't need.

Well he's making his rounds with the well bred in town
Safe and out of harm
Well he can say what he likes, water is nice
But it's fire that keeps you warm.

Chorus:
Maybe I'm rough around the edges
And stubborn to a fault
Maybe I'm just a little too hardheaded
Stiff backboned and all
Maybe I'm passionate about being passionate
Say what you like boy water is nice
But it's fire that keeps you warm

Well if you know me you know it's true
And you can quote me if you want to

Repeat Chorus

Say what you like when they all turn to ice
It's the fire that you're going to want

He's dating a doctor with a gentle nature
Says she ain't nothin' like me
And there's fire and there's water
And all I can offer
Is a temperment that he don't need.

Notes:

One day I was listening to an old CD of mine and this very spunky song that I've always loved started to play. Suddenly, like a devil on my shoulder, Lizzie Webber popped up and said "Oooh, this would make a great story. You know you wanna write it." And she was right. I wanted something up from all of the tortured Elizabeth stuff I'd had going on in my other stories, and I wanted to remember and pay homage to the feisty girl she used to be. And I thought, Elizabeth needs a partner in crime, thus the friendship with Carly was born. Very fun to write, makes me want to find other ways to let Lizzie come out to play.
